On June 16, 2019, forty-six very excited campers converged on Betsy Jeff Penn 4H Educational Center for our 15th summer of Camp Jubilee.  Campers and their families were warmly welcomed by forty-eight counselors, who immediately befriended their assigned campers.  Registration day included interactive art exhibits with basket weaving, painting on canvas, pottery, bohemian weaving and jewelry design for all to enjoy.  And on a hot afternoon, we were happy to welcome the Kona Ice Truck for a cool refreshing drink!

Throughout the week, campers enjoyed the beautiful grounds at BJP.  Campers and counselors alike are always ecstatic to welcome our theatrical Bible characters. This year we were introduced to Abraham and Sarah.  Over the seven chapel meetings, the Biblical principles of obedience and dependence on God were clearly taught.  We all came away knowing we are “Friends of God”, James 2:23.

Mornings were filled with horseback riding, archery and canoeing, hand bells (new this year), coloring and games.  We were excited to welcome back for a second year Abilities Tennis for our campers on Wednesday morning.  MJM treasures this partnership.  Afternoons were spent in the cool swimming pool and doing crafts.

As is typically the case, the Camp Jubilee Talent Show was the highlight for many!  Over 100 visitors braved the stormy summer weather to enjoy the wonderful talents that were presented.  These campers surely know how to perform and worship.  We can’t leave out the campfire testimonies on Wednesday night… it was without a doubt the most humbling time of the week.  The key words for the evening were serving, worship, simplicity, honoring, inclusion, and ministry as campers and counselors shared what their time at camp meant to them.

A great big thank you goes out to all who made Camp Jubilee 2019 a huge success.
